Why Choose St Francis and Catholic Education?

St Francis Catholic Primary School Tannum Sands in the outer region of Gladstone offers a unique education for all students. Under the umbrella of Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton, St Francis is grounded in the Gospel values of Jesus Christ as Jesus is at the heart of all we do. Through our diverse extra-curricular activities, commitment to our values and beliefs as well as dedication to high expectations in academics, we develop the whole child; academically, physically, spiritually, socially and emotionally.

With our school set amongst bushland and in close proximity to the Boyne River and Canoe Point beach, we encourage our students to care for the environment in which we live. As a community, we promote sustainability through exploring land conservation and recycling, composting and gardening. Through the use of our outdoor education centre and environmental science hub, our students not only care for those around them, but our world too.

At St Francis we aim to remain true to the Aboriginal teachings of unconditional love – Kanyini. These teachings underpin our unique St Francis culture. The four connected parts of Ngura – Place, Walytja – Family, Kurunpa – Spirituality, and Tjuukurpa – Philosophy are seen within our school family through welcome, forgiveness, comfort and a love of Jesus.

Catholic Schools exist not to be different, but to make a difference.  Our mission is to develop life-long learners, provide religious education and relevant, holistic and quality education, to assist students in their search for meaning for life.
